Locked Together · Friends, invites and chat
The short version. Chat is for you and friends you chose. Be kind, keep it clean, and never ask anybody for personal details. If somebody breaks these rules, block them and report them — we read every report and we act on it.
Who can talk to you
Only friends. Somebody becomes your friend when you play together using an invite code, or when you accept their friend request. There is no public chat, no search, and nobody you have not chosen can message you. You can remove or block a friend at any time, and they are not told.
What is not allowed
- Harassment, bullying, threats, or encouraging anybody to hurt themselves or others.
- Hate speech: attacks on people for their race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age.
- Sexual content of any kind, and any sexual or romantic approach to a minor. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation; accounts involved are removed and reported to the relevant authorities.
- Asking for or sharing personal information: full names, addresses, phone numbers, school or workplace, passwords, payment details, or accounts on other services.
- Scams, spam, advertising, and links. Links are removed from messages automatically.
- Impersonating another person or pretending to be from the Locked Together team.
- Anything illegal, or that promotes violence, terrorism, drugs or weapons.
- Offensive player names. A name is held to the same rules as a message.
What we do
- Messages are filtered: links are removed and common profanity is masked.
- Messages are kept on our own server so your friend can read them, for at most 30 days and at most the last 200 messages of a conversation. Removing or blocking a friend deletes the conversation.
- Nobody on our team reads your chat — unless one of the two people in it reports a message. A report sends us that message and the few before it, so we can see what happened. A deleted message can still be reported until it would have expired. Reports are kept for 180 days, then deleted.
- When a report shows these rules were broken, we can switch off chat and friend requests for the account, for a time or for good, and remove the account for serious or repeated abuse.
What you can do
- Block — from a chat or your friends list. Ends the friendship, deletes the conversation, and stops that player from sending you requests or being matched with you.
- Report — press and hold a message, or use the menu in a chat. Reporting also blocks.
- Remove — take a friend off your list without blocking them.
- Delete your account — in Profile. It deletes your friends, requests and messages from our server along with your saved progress. The privacy policy says what is kept and for how long.
Age
Locked Together is for players aged 13 and over. If you are under 13, do not use friends or chat.
